Apart from providing assistance to refugees in countries of asylum and dealing with major refugee emergencies, one of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ main responsibilities is to provide long-term solutions for their plight.

Regency Foundation Networx, in association with UNCHR has produced Human Rights – the new consensus which contains a wide range of contemporary material on human rights, democracy, development and peace. The book, which incorporates the full texts of 14 declarations and international human rights standards and brings together the positions of both governments and grass roots activists, has been described as one of the most useful tools available to human rights workers, particularly those in the developing world.
